Germany:
- experience in computertraining for
Senior since 1993
- one course include 5 meeting (shorter
courses better-good to split it)
- best practice - splitting
subjects into different seminars, best way to motivate seniors in
continuing learning.
- Scheme – juniros to seniors,
professional trainers, seniors to seniors
- Age of participants – 3 groups –
below 50, 50-60, more then 60 – computer as a hobby
- Subjects of courses – emphasis on
practical expererience – how to create sth. as e.g. greeting cards, menu
cards, as for the Internet-not
buying but searching information)
- Juniors – motivated by getting a certificate
by the school (it works!!), they need it for further training, job,
University.Seniors as „job-openers“
- one-day trainings (as Cafe
Anschluss)- specialized in one theme, payid a bit (5 euro per 3 hours)
- teaching aids – mostly papers, CD and
DVD (advanced courses), omputer simulation (classroom use))
- Course organization – lesson (45
minutes), cca 3 meetings a week,
- most of students are men (but women
are keen and quicky), men are high qualified but without computer skills,
- reasons for attening courses – over
60 are mainly represented by „social contact“
- Teaching
aids giving - detailed content information on paper for beginners, summary
content information on paper and/or detailed information on CD, material
for self-study for advanced, access to e-learning
- For
Beginners it might be the best to use paper, black board, detailed informations, projector
- For
advanced learners you can use more technical support, CDs for students,
summary paper, internet etc.
- What
must be new? - Learning with more fun, More practise,
Learning with all senses
France:
- 1 istructor for 4 students (the
scheme also used is one teacher and one helper)
- 1 course per week
- Length (2 hours - 15 minutes break, 90
minutes without a break)
- Used teaching aids - mostly
projector, borad, handouts
- Materials that students need - notebook,
pen, handouts, iniciativeJ
- Instructor – over 40, patient,
comforting, concerete and not too technical
- Students profile – aware of the place of computers
in everyday life today, interested but often scared, looking for a convivial leisure
activity
- Most of students are women (divorced,
single,longer life)
- Beginners course – 8 sessions + on
top of that one introductory session and an evaluation session (happy with
the course?, party with drink and food)
- E-Seniors provide advice in purchasing
equipnet, help on choosing the best Internet provider etc.,
- A course for beginners - Session 1: Hardware
(connection) ; Session 2 : Hardware - the mouse, the pad, the keyboard;
Session 3: Creating an email
address; Session 4
- Windows
environment ; Session 5 -Windows Environment ; Session 6 - Text

Czech republic
- Most teachers has already taught more
than twenty lessons.
- Use of junior to junior scheme,
individua courses
- Students between 50-70 are 80% of our
students.
- Metod mostly use dis represented by
practical training
- Homework incorporated into used Metod
- Good access to computers outside the
courses for all students (home computers, public places)
- Teaching aids - paper, cd, flash
disc, white board
- Organization of courses - lessons
take 45 to 90 min once a week. Some of the students are beginners but most
of them are advanced.
- Reasons for attending the courses - to
keep in touch with friends and family, to know modern technology, hobby,
active job
- Teaching aids: mostly paper, white
board, flip chart, flash disc, cd, camera (ocassionaly multimedia
presentations, DVD, Movies)
- Form of classes: Demonstration and
practical exercise.
- Evaluation of Seniors - they
apperciate 1 lessin a week (45-90 minutes); practice lessons to be
prefered and mostly Internet,
downloading, photographs
- Seniors prefer easy-written materials

- Basic skills for Seniors - Mail,
skype, news, Microsoft Word

Poland:
- library - uses mainly databases as
teaching aids
- summary by the seniors – practice is
crucial
- teaching aids distributes among the
students – papers (with content, tips on the issues concearning classes,
online documents, information on the Internet assistance)
- additional learning aids are helpful
(content papers etc.)
- Seniors are interested in new ways of
teaching - multimedia presentations, Internet tasks etc.
- recommendation - individual approach
to the topic, small groups, use of modern devices
Finland
- students 70 years and more
- more mobile pohone courses than
computer courses
- teaching
methods depend on scheme : seniors to seniors or juniors to seniors but it
functions better with senior teachers as they understand the problems of
the student (Juniors are a very positive help).
- Individual tuition is a must when teaching
seniors
- Two teacher needed for
12 students. We have had 20 students, it went, but was very stressing.
- Very little theory and it must be repeated
often enough.
- All our courses are targeted to new-beginners.

for changes of demographic structure)
Senior olympic games
- organization in second part of May
- Finland can´t organize it (the reason
is the age of students, different organization of courses, economic
problems)
- All partners - this year the SOG will
be more practical (focus on practical questions and tasks), e.g. produce a
letter, card, info about the country+complete it with foto
- RESULT AS PRESENTATION FOR THE
CONFERENCE
- Learning about EU countries – more
practical tasks, searching for information
- Creation of questions - the Czech
republic as the coordinator, all partners will convert it slightly into
their environment,
- The winners from the last year or
this year will be at Krakow conference
Organization of the meeting in Poland
- Change of date: 15.-17. June;
- Monday and Wednesday as working days,
conference On Tuesday;
- The coordinator will make
certificates for the participants of the project and for the
participants/winners of the SOG
- Organization of the conference - must
be discussed according to the possibilities of all participants
- To be discussed - different section
of conference - morning a) the approach of the goverment and support for
the education, afternoon b) the approaches to the old people
- Exhibition – all partners prepair for the conference poster about their
institution, region, the coordinator about the project and results
New project
- motivation of seniors to study
- preparation of a new partnership and a new multilateral
project for the next year.
