Writing in MS Word: font changing and formating

Lesson Lenght: 90 minutes

Notes:

The lesson results from the previous one where students learnt how to open and close files and how to work with a mouse.

Task/Objectives:

The lesson objective covers MS Word font using. Students will learn about font types, font changing and formating.  They will manage the keybord orientation.

Description of Activity/Activities

The lesson methodology:

a) warm-up activities for "computer users" - teacher asks about parts of the computer (Show me...; What is...) and about "computer words"

b) repetition of previous lesson - student opens their computer and show how to open/close files, work with a mouse

c) introduction of the lesson objective - font, its types, changing and formating. The teacher explains everything step by step while the student follows his instructions.

d) practice - after the introduction and explanation, student starts to write his own text from the textbook (or the teacher prepares it for them). Student uses the keybord draft to orientate with the keyboard. After prepairing the text, the student learn how to formate the paragraphs, how to use and change font types

e) game - student play with the text and try what is possible while choosing and changing font. If there are more students, it is possible to prepair "a short exhibition" of printed texts created by students. Tey will see what is possible to do with the font and how it looks like.

f) evaluation and homework - student has to prepare and formate text at home following the instructions from the teacher.

Verification (steps to check for student understanding):

There is the evaluation at the end of the lesson and homework. Following lesson is devoted to the same practice with little knowledge extension.
