Excel 2003 or higher

Topic: How to use Excel for personal use

Lesson Length:  90 minutes

Notes: 

Seniors 55+

Task/Objectives:

The objective is to get familiar with the Excel application, to understand how it works and to use it for personal use.

Description of Activity/Activities

 

a) Short Introduction in the interface of Excel. Like: What is a cell? What is a row? etc.

b) How to use and interact with tables, diagrams and worksheets

c) Basic Formatting (like in Word)

d) How to paste a template or a special style in a worksheet

e) Creation of a book of household accounts to understand how formulas work

f) Explaining the most important formulas

 

Verification (steps to check for student understanding):

 

After several explanations the seniors tried the new methods on their own and the teacher could look over their shoulders. There was not any claim.

Resources:

 Because of the calm and professional atmosphere the seniors were able to write down note independently. Beside they could get copies of a special Excel course book.
